When Night Herons find a place they like, they ‘stick’ with it. The bird here flew from this awkward spot several times, only to return and hang on again.
After I entered the title it occurred to me Google Search might have some funny listings with this.

This young Black-crowned Night Heron is in the final stages of getting adult feathers. Not brown, not yet grey, just a bland mixture of the two.

These photos were taken when I first noticed him. Later I passed by and he was back. That’s when I made an effort to capture him at several angles. I still need to view them and see if anything different enough is there. I really liked the odd location he picked.
