This is one I never expected to meet when we first moved to the Lowcountry. Nine-banded Armadillo are common here.
Personally I love them, however in general they ‘are frowned upon’. They do tend to dig up everything in their path.

We see them here a lot too-I think they are increasing in numbers.
I’m amazed they are not extinct 😁. Can’t see, can’t hear, don’t care.

Did you know the adult has 4 exact clone babies. If one was missing a toe, they all would be 🤣🤣🤣. Bizarre critters.

Just one of the strange facts about these little guys. They might be one of the strangest in the animal world. IE; they don’t swim, but can hold their breath and walk under water for a short distance. Easy way to cross a stream. They also jump very high and squeal when surprised. That one I’ve seen up close and personal. Ellen found it very amusing.

In private I admit I like them…probably because we do not have them here..similar to when I hear peple say they like those devil creature chipmunks ha.
