This heron must have been off in the woods on the far side of this island. Almost all the birds leave and return from the exact opposite direction of this one. Since they all (usually) do the same thing it gets easier to catch flight shots.
I managed to photograph a few series of this specific Night Heron only because I have a favorite spot down here and he passed by multiple times, from what should have been the wrong direction.
BTW, I remember that my luck catching the herons I originally planned for was not near as good.
