Great Blue Along A Marsh Canal

Great Blue Along A Marsh Canal

Usually this spot is pretty wet. But now we are in the middle of what is becoming a yearly tradition. Draining the marshes and fixing a crumbling river dike.

All the dikes along the Ashley are very old. Most are on properties that are part of the National Historic Registry. Hence rules on changing and repairing properties. Fixes take time and money.

The wading birds, like this Great Blue, find less food in the lower water so they are spread out hunting. Walk around and you will find some. A little less than expected…but I admit to being spoiled.
