Barred Owl In A Cypress

Barred Owl In A Cypress

I do love to keep the environment in my shots, and the owl flew over to the best background I could ask for.

This was a rough old Cypress covered in lichen, Resurrection Ferns, and a touch of Spanish Moss.

Resurrection Ferns are the tough green plants that grow across the boughs of old swamp trees. They are named because most times they are dried out and rough, but get a wet moist day and they burst back to life in greens and fern leaves. They get ‘resurrected’.

Here the owl was moving from tree to tree, watching the water below. Frogs and Crayfish are here, and the family is nearby. You could hear the female calling.

In general very cool.
