Both the Heron and I were taking a break from the rookeries the other day. I was about a mile from our nearby swamp rookery, I assume the bird was from there.

He flew past me and landed somewhere in the reeds. If I hadn’t seen him land I would never have known he was in there.

I passed by the general spot I thought he was in, and yes he was hiding there working the shallows.

He paid no attention to me while walking further into the reeds. Usually small Anole live there in numbers, and it’s a Heron favorite.
