I had walked around a swamp pond off the Port Royal rookery to capture Wood Storks as they flew in the get water for their young. It’s terribly hot in the sun down here and the Storks collect water during the day for the chicks. Ellen and I watched their trips and moved down to wait…and wait.

I didn’t expect to find a small active flock of White Ibis in the same spot. I assume they were during the same thing, and taking advantage of the time for a quick dip in cool water.

Below an Ibis came down as we were standing nearby. I don’t get shots like this of an Ibis very often.
