Tadpoles and Crayfish are what this Little Blue is hoping to find.
Early in the year it’s mostly Crayfish, but as we hit summer I think there are more Tadpoles and small Minnows available.

In the shade the breeding colors are especially pronounced. Magenta comes to mind. Mid-summer the colors will be a dark slate blue.



I think Little Magentas would be a great name for these smaller waders!
Agree with Doerfpub – I would love a name that doesn’t get confused with Great Blue Heron and recognizes this heron’s unique colors.
Exactly, like the Moor Hen being renamed a Gallinule 😂. Being serious, it would be a good idea.
