The Black-necked Stilt was poking around the marsh mud, however he was moving along a little fast also.
It’s hard to say just how big the gator was, but certainly large enough to cause concern for a delicate Stilt.
Black-necked Stilt Avoiding An Alligator
It’s dangerous but luckily stilts can fly. A unique moment that I have never seen before.
The Stilt walked all around the gator, almost tempting him. This was one pulled at random of maybe ten images I had of them. The Alligator never moved. And yet this morning Ellen was watching a Tricolored with a gator, similar situation, and the bird got away by luck, the gator snapped at him. You never know.
