On most days Alligators are out, but there’s room to share in the marshes. Once in a while however photographers just need to step back and concede the ground. Like this day in the old rice fields.
The first photo below was shot wide because I was trying to catch as many in a frame as possible. If you look in the back left another local was swimming by, a Tricolor ignoring him.
The old island here is slowly shrinking with each storm. There’s still room for even the largest gators to gather. A little teeth showing and not because it was a hot day.
The grass on the island was hiding a few others that would come out later.
This was a day we kept close to the big dike with only a few steps off the sides. Ellen and I were they only people around, we were really out numbered LOL.
That must have been a sight! I love your photos but still find it alien to me that there are these huge beasts out there in the wild! I would love to see them but would need to bring a 2000000 focal lens with me, just incase!
😁😁, I was a bit shocked the first time I saw them out there too. Mind your manners, give some space and you can have a great photography adventure. And… most days they are a better behaved than people in a queue at the grocery store 😆
