A simple rule is take the shot, then evaluate everything. Usually it’s a different focus, zoom, or just as important a slight angle change. I do this so I don’t miss what is there in case the subject changes.

That said, below is the first shot. A Great Blue with morning sun on the reeds and water.

Now the second shot. A small shift to the right, pull the zoom back.

And now looking past the Great Blue I can see the big Alligator slowly walking towards us.

On the far right, mostly hidden, I see what looks like a small Night Heron walking away.
