I hadn’t seen any Night Herons in a few months. After leaving rookeries they disappear into the thick areas of the marshes.

It was a surprise to find multiple Black-crowns around a rice field, in colder weather.

For the most part they were huddled up in the thick brush along the edge of dikes. However a few others went out into the reeds directly in the sunlight. Probably looking to warm up.
