This Red-shoulder gave us the last opportunity after a long morning with some Spoonbills. We were heading out of the marshes a bit worn, at least I was, when we heard his calls.
It was the pose on a dead Palm Tree that made me stop.
Not only a nice first look, in a moment he flew off into the Palms. At the perfect height for these shots.

They are. This one had more color than most for that area. The strength appears to be regional. The further south you go the less red. An observation.
Stunning photos, Ted ! I have to admit, I’m a little jealous 🙂 For some reason, I just can’t seem to capture that type of bird around here—they react to even the slightest movement. All the best ! Marc.
Thanks. I have found some also react more to sound. In the past I kept sound on in my cameras. It helped me shoot short bursts. Some looked right at me, from a distance, when they heard they first burst. I now shoot as quiet as possible.
