Ellen from behind me…’Owl, look up’.
Me…’where’.
Ellen…’straight up, directly over your head up’!

I would have missed him entirely. The juvenile Owl was about 10 feet directly over my head LOL. Focus was impossible, way too close.

He didn’t look awake yet. It’s not easy taking care of yourself. The young Owls from the local bamboo swamp are around on their own, Mom probably watching from some tree top though.

Juvenile Barred Owl.
These are absolutely stunning, Ted!
Owls have that something ‘extra’. They are one of the locals you try the most to photograph.
This is a first year juvenile, hatched in a swamp not far from here. Every year we brave the biting bugs to watch the adults feed them. Sometimes you get photos, others not but still a great experience.
Wonderful images of this fuzzy little guy. Hope you (and we!) get to see him again! (And I hope he stays out of the fishing line.)
No fishing line pretty sure. However all kinds of things in the swamps, and if he flies too far he will own HOA dues. They are building closer and closer.
