The obvious question… A Water Buffalo??

Yes, we have a few. And it makes sense from a historical point of view.

The biggest money crop for the plantations here was rice, not cotton. The Lowcountry was covered in rice fields, most of coastal South Carolina. In Africa and Asia the Water Buffalo were important in growing and maintaining rice fields. So they were brought over to southern rice plantations.
