Out walking alone on a back swamp trail the other day when I spotted this small Heron. This trail is a loop that turns back towards the big wetlands. He was hunting in the right place for me to see him multiple times as a walked around him in that loop.
A pretty bird out in one of the few open places, not too many branches or strands of moss in my view.
Below he spotted something and was considering his options. None of which I caught LOL. Shooting slow to catch light also means very out of focus when a fast bird makes his move😂😂.
I have still only seen one at my place in 30+ years and they are stunning in the sunshine. Great captures as always.
Thank you. And yes, in the right light a striking bird. This was a good spring for photographing them and as usual they disappeared late summer. This one has decided to stay in a big local swamp so photo ops may be around for the winter too.
