Swamps here have a large number of these turtles, from tiny to huge. Years ago pet shops and the old 5&10’s would sell baby sliders, a bowl, and turtle food. Same critters 😂

Most likely they all met an untimely death long before. Catching and selling these turtles is now against the law.

Small turtles, but they are usually swallowed whole 🤣🤣🤣. Big turtle shells are like medieval iron suits. A very hungry gator will grab one but it takes a day to get past the shell. Also Alligators have no sharp teeth when adults, and do not chew. They ‘rip’. Turtles are fairly safe.

Very nice! Our turtles are all snoozing in the warm mud until spring.
These will too. Alongside the Alligators who do the same thing. Since we fluctuate so much they don’t get very long naps. A week of near freezing once winter is about what we get.
