Ruddy Turnstone

Ruddy Turnstone

An obvious name for this shore bird. They like to flip rocks in search of food. So…the Ruddy Turnstone.

What I didn’t know was they breed in the tundra, the arctic circle. They also migrate from there to the southern hemisphere. From the tundra to South America, that’s  a very long trip 😳. That explains why I don’t see them all that often. We are about 2/3’s of their migration, just a stopping off place.
