When they decided it’s time to leave every other bird in the water needs to get out of the way. It’s loud and wet.
I wasn’t at a great angle, but it’s fun to watch these giants flap their wings and run along the surface with big web feet. They require open space for a take off.

The Tundra have been kind. Over the years you usually get to stand in the scrub and watch them and the White Pelicans out of reach. In February the causeway over to the island opens again. Bear (this spot) has not been busy the last two years, maybe this year.
