A flock of White Ibis took off loud and fast, as a group. They climbed up and of course it was assumed they were gone.
Well, not all. Some banked around and came right back, landing in the trees over the end of the dike road.

Below is a juvenile, still with dark feathers, that was mixed in with the group. They slowly grow out their adult white feathers, but it takes about 2 years.

Nice ! They are striking birds and even more so as adults (I think) 😊
In a few months they get breeding colors…weird 🥹. Blood red legs, and wildly pale blue eyes. Spooky critters .
Love the light through the feathers – really makes them look like they belong in the air.
I had a good angle on these. Hard to shoot because of the moss and branches, but moving around gave me some holes to see through.
