A ‘bad hair day’ in the wind.
There are a few more nests, and a little more activity, in the second swamp area of the local rookery. For years this was buried in weeds and cattails. Finally the water was dredged, small Cypress islands cleared.
These shots have branches in the way, trees not close, and plenty of swaying Spanish Moss. However there are nests being built. With luck the Great Blues stay here, which is not a given since they do move on at times.

My eye is always caught by the freshly broken ends of nest sticks, testifying to the work the bird has done to build his nest.
And all spring they do repairs too.
