River Otter, ACE Basin

I did a rookery error. Got caught completely off guard when a big River Otter jumped up on the bank of a creek next to me. I ultimately raised the camera, no clue as to settings.

This was the last thing I expected.

The Otter walked past us, slipped down into the creek, and actually climbed right back out. Finally he trotted across the asphalt country road and slid down into another creek.

River Otters are pretty big. They grow to a little under 5 feet long.

    1. Well, they live in the middle of thousands of acres of swamp and marsh. They will not go hungry LOL. This was a nice photo op, and I missed him walking by. He might be a little comfortable with people in this spot. It’s a big marsh with several creeks that local fisherman come to looking to catch dinner. This is a very rural area.
