They’re also called Swamp Chicken. They are on the menu for every predator out there.
I was hoping to get a few photographs of very young Gallinule, no luck. The chicks had gone past their blatantly ugly phase.

I read that they aren’t strong fliers which must be a big disadvantage 😟. It’s an interesting looking bird, nicely captured!
Thanks, I actually photographed some younger birds the other day, need to finish them.
And yes, not much in flight. But really fast along the waters surface. They have huge toes, with flaps along the sides. They run on water lol.
Now their mom might just disagree with you.
