A ‘picture postcard’ perfect scene. Deep in the wildlife area of the basin are these huge trees hanging over a dirt causeway. Both sides are swamp and large marshes. This single car wide dike connects the swamps to a road towards the world.

Half over we spotted the young Little Blue Heron. He had the pretty calico coloring they get right before turning the adult slate blue.

Of course we stopped and grabbed the cameras. Given the fact we were on a dirt road a single car wide there were limited options. But that bird with the big swamp behind made a beautiful photograph.
