The Killdeer are pretty common, I have seen them most of my life. I’m never surprised to see them in any environment. Years ago we lived in a condo, typical condo flat neighborhood. A 1/2 acre of open land was near an entrance…Killdeer lived there. 😆
This was taken along a dike when the marsh water was very low. I was hoping he would fly, but instead he did the typical Killdeer scamper. Fast runners and I missed it entirely.

I smile when I see your Killdeer photos. Over here in Belgium we don’t have Killdeers, but we do have their relatives, the Little Ringed Plover and the Common Ringed Plover. We simply call them plovers (“plevieren”). They’re lovely little birds, but unlike your Killdeer they’re quite scarce where I live, so seeing one is always a treat. That’s probably why I enjoy these photos so much, they show me a species I can only admire from a distance. 🙂
