Full Bloom, Moon Flower

With all the Moon Flowers we have had there were not all that many opportunities to shoot a fully opened bloom. At least not in natural light.

Both shots here were at sunset, you can see some sunlight in both images. Usually the plants wait until after dark to fully open. I don’t remember if there had been heavy clouds just before shooting these. That might explain why they were wide open.

Mid Size Carolina Anole

I assumed these were all the same Anole. Now as I look at each image closer it’s at least two, but maybe three different critters. I see a few things on each lizard that’s a bit different.

However, it really doesn’t matter. We have little critters climbing around in a jungle (to them). Fun shots, to take and see.

Black-eyed Susan (Pretty Sure)

All the Black-eyed Susan here are about gone. These shots were taken randomly over the last week or so.

By habit I have a camera in hand when out back so when I take a card out I wade through the good, the bad, and the ugly 😆.

A Mornings Moon Flowers

Every morning, for maybe 2 hours, we have these big flowers. If I’m lucky on a cloudy afternoon some will bloom before night fall.

The weather is changing, nights cool, at least by tropical standards. All the big vines are dropping leaves, only buds up top of the plants are blooming now. It’s high, and I’m not climbing around!

Evening Hummingbird

These didn’t come out anything like I thought they would.

It was early evening, not near as dark as these look. I had just shot the newest crop of Moon Flowers and was now looking for little green guys. The loud ‘buzz’ told me a Hummingbird was in front of me.

I grabbed a few shots and waited for her to finish (they do everything at lightning speed).

Bumble Bee (I Assume)

This Bee has been around the house all summer. So far these are the only decent shots I’ve managed to get. I don’t know much about them but they look fierce. I’m not getting much closer.

I read comments on someones macro insect images, don’t remember who, but they made a point of mentioning how shiny the shells were. Looking at these they were right! Massive eyes too.

Adult Anole

A god example of a full adult Carolina Anole. A bit more ‘meat on his bones’ and the rings around his eyes are vivid colors, most a shade of blue.

The only way I know to determine sex is a dorsal fin shaped pattern running down the back. A dorsal ID’s as a female (I’ve read).

Best viewed large.
