A Heron Greeting

Most Great Blue Herons will greet their mate after they return from an absence. Here one of the pair had been off gathering branches for an extended period (he’s not very good at it).

Bill touching / grabbing is typical.

And then they will settle in, or the other head off to feed.

    1. Thanks 😀. And yes, they are. It makes a great story but I don’t want to ‘humanize’ them either. They can be vicious, kill or be killed. Still in all watching them close like we do it’s hard not to 😀
