The Heron was making short flights and hunting all along the waters edge. He only noticed me because he wanted to land in my spot. For a moment I thought I was going to get the ultimate close up, a Heron on my lens.

Considering how shy they can be it was surprising he didn’t fly a long ways off.

After trying multiple spots with nothing that I could see he took a new approach, land in a spot and wait for something to happen.

I left him standing around since there are only so many photographs you can take of a bird in the same spot.
