This guy has been around for a long time. For a size I would guess between 10 – 11 feet (3.0 – 3.3 meters). He could be 40+ years old.  In the wild 50 years is old.

Once an Alligator grows to over 4 feet (1.3 meters) they become the apex predator. Humans and bigger Alligators are the only danger. Out in these marshes they are on their own.

Above this Alligator casually swam towards us out of curiosity. It’s not unusual for one to come over, check you out, and float around doing nothing.
