I don’t think I have ever been this close, and photographed this before. Flocks of Tree Swallows gathered on the reeds and cane.

As the birds tired from catching the flying insects a resting place was needed. The obvious spot was taller reeds. Trees are only on the edges of the marsh.

This was a nice find because Swallows are notoriously hard to capture. Fast and erratic flight makes it next to impossible.

Here I knew where they would be, and could judge about how fast they were going.

This may be the most in flight Swallows I have caught.

This was like a party for Ellen and I so you can imagine how many shots we took. I don’t see myself going way out here again for a while either. So I stocked up on images and just held down the shutter.

I love these shots, the colors and uniqueness are wonderful!
The scene is certainly unique, thanks. Never thought about where the birds rest with minimal trees near the water.
