This is one of the last young Great Egrets in a rookery close to my home. It’s a convenient place to shoot so I have photographed hundreds of these small birds.
That said, it still amazes me the amount of noise they can make. I literally can hear one from 1/2 mile away.
This one was one of the ‘real pros’.
There was an adult near, he was getting fed, but demanded more.
When the rookery is full in the spring you can tell when an adult flies in with food. You don’t need to be close, the entire place erupts.
This one will be on his own soon, I’m sure the adults can’t wait.
