We spotted these Tundra Swans in a salt marsh in the ACE Basin.
This is about as far south as a group will venture, and that is only a few each year. Their breeding grounds is the tundra of northern Canada.

The large open marshes in the ACE Basin gives them good winter feeding grounds away from people.

I tend to just ‘take a look’ and move on since even with a long lens I would need to find trails to get much closer. This was outside of a wildlife area and fairly close (for a Tundra Swan).
Tundra swans also arrived to our refuge, they will stay there for a short while and then go to Artic to their breeding grounds.
Ted, you took amazing photos of Tundra swans! Our swans stay far away from the shore and nothing you could do about it.
They stay away here too. There are a few spots you may get within photo range with a long lens (like this) but it’s luck to find them there.
