Half Out - Half In , Alligator

Half Out – Half In , Alligator

My theory is they will do this so they can quickly throw themselves back into the water. I have seen them do that many times. It gives them an edge.

The truth is probably much different. Most likely climbed out a little, it was work, fell asleep. They are not deep thinkers.

Found on the side a trail, ACE Basin, South Carolina.

  1. I just read a news story about a woman who from what it sounds like tried to touch an alligator she came upon in a residential pond! Unfortunately the local grabbed her leg and took her under the water repeatedly. She drowned. Was that near you? I think it was an NBC report from SC.

    1. Yes, it was nearby. News outlets have kept details vague and should for the victims privacy. Without going into details it should be said a person should never poke an Alligator, would you yank a lion by the ear ???

    1. Alligators are protected here except for specific hunting. However, if one attacks, or even if one is seen being fed by a person the animal is euthanized. Feeding Alligators will bring a fine. Alligators are to be left alone as part of nature.
