I was focusing on and shooting everything except this Black-crowned Night Heron. Basically he flew into my line of sight.

There is an island off to the left of this photograph that has become a smaller bird rookery the last few years. Unfortunately vegetation is thick so visibility is limited.

Birds leaving the island pop out from the far side and go by so quickly it’s rare to get a good shot.

At first I didn’t even look at these images because I assumed they were out of focus.
For the record; no grand plan here, it just happened.
I never like to make judgments about my photos until I see them on my computer screen. Sometime ones that I think are really good turn out to be pretty bad, and sometimes, as was this case with these shots, Ted, they are a lot better than you anticipated. Somehow it seems to balance out.
One can only hope LOL
