All these photographs were taken mid day. I’m not sure how many of these Black-crowned were tucked into this old tree, it looked like much more than usual.


I have not been able to catch any out fishing lately. In general a Night Heron is shy, but there was always one who had learned to ignore people. Not this year.


Of course it’s rare to get a flock to photo too. So I’ll gladly take these.

Ultimately there turned out to be a pretty big flock living in these trees. It was hard to get many angles but with that many something would always work out. I think they have moved on now.
