I previously published a B&W photograph of this Heron that I had walked right by. He was standing off the swamp trail and I never noticed him.

These are the balance of the images. After he realized we had seen him he decided to just go about looking for food.

The distance between us was not great for a long lens and I find holding the gear for portrait format cumbersome after a while. It’s pretty heavy.

I shot a few photographs quickly and backed away. Eventually we both walked off going in different directions.
