Males who have claimed a spot in the rookery can do nothing but wait now. It’s early, but the best spots go fast.

If they leave the nest another might come along and take it.


So they wait to see if a female comes. They will, but who knows when that might be.

Not until they have no choice. It’s about keeping and protecting the nest location.
