Brown Pelican fly by.

The only way I can get a series like this is to be right in the water (boat) with them. Pelicans fly patterns like other birds.

This was shot sitting in the water between the spot where Pelicans were fishing and their island rookery.

This bird was low, slow, and right in the path to the rookery. We were in the boat of an experienced guide, and a custom made boat just for this type of trip.

We do planned trips with Chris, Coastal Expeditions, most wildlife but other conservation explorations too. It’s always educational since they are naturalists, and respectful of the animals and locations. Swamps and marshes we do our own trips, but island rookeries require professional guides.
