He went out for a stick, to be clear he did the assigned job. But just barely. I often wonder how they get a nest built at all. Half the time the male brings back a twig.

This explains why Heron nests are so small and flimsy. Construction is not their strong point for sure.

There is a positive here. If the sticks are small the male is sent out for more. I get extra opportunities since the return to the same location out of habit.
