This is a young Roseate Spoonbill maybe pushing his luck just a little too much. Getting close is common but the bird looked a little casual about this. In truth the Alligator is faster than the Spoonbill.
All ended fine here.

Alligators will eat anything, really. They also like to eat things that are easy to catch, opportunistic hunters and actually need very little food.
