Colorful Tricolor

Colorful Tricolor

A little under 3 feet tall (1meter), with a wingspan about the same the Tricolor is midsized within the heron family. Like most herons they are solitary except during breeding season.

What I never realized until recently is how they tend to stay along the coast line only even though they have a range from the northeast US on down through South America. It is actually considered to be a ‘threatened species…but aren’t we all now.
