Young Night Heron

Young Night Heron

I spotted this young bird through an open hole in the leaves of a Cypress Tree. This is a true ‘almost’ ready to fly chick.

The chick has lost most of the white down feathers, yet the juvenile brown color is not there yet either. I don’t see this age very often.

  1. Very cool, I have not experience these “age” either and the palish coloring caught my eye before reading your explanation.
