In the first image here the small Heron is almost lost in the view. This is their preferred environment, the photograph a decent example of where we find most of them.

A little further down the trail I spotted the second one. He was closer to the big rookery island but still far enough from the chaos to be comfortable.  They had been nesting here in the reeds a while back, I think the nest must have failed since there was no trace of it now.
