Great Blue, Fall Colors

Great Blue, Fall Colors

The old wooden ramps have been taken over by the Great Blue Herons. The water level in swamps is low, so low a few ramps are too far out of the water for the Alligators to reach.

Charleston hasn’t had rain in a month, huge for here. The marshes are high because dikes control water, swamps are based on the weather.

That may also be why we actually have a little fall color around the Lowcountry this year.

    1. We don’t usually have dry spells this long. We are swampy and wet. 😳 Because the levels are controlled by dikes in most places we don’t always notice, until going into the swamps. It’s a brave new world 😵‍💫
