One of those ‘not fancy’ birds that are still very interesting. At least I think so.

What you rarely see are their huge feet. And the toes, wide to help them run on the top of the water.

For me the best is their gathering together to swim. It’s in a long line, called a raft. Kind of like synchronized swimming, or a conga line😂.

Coots can be hard to photograph when in the ‘black mode’. I read somewhere they have different shades depending on location and time of year.
