The dance steps of a Great Egret.

There is a series of moves, with their bridal feathers out straight, all aimed at attracting the mate.

First step is to push out the long feathers.

Second is to stand erect.

Next they will throw the head way back, looking at the sky.

Last is a quick dip down still looking skyward.

Some have a few variations but these are the basics. It’s great fun to watch and if lucky there will be several birds dancing at the same time.
