Here’s something that’s quite a show. Big Storks up in the tree tops.
Storks have big long toes and claws, really big. Now made for hanging on small flexible branches. Keeping their balance is tricky. Also the branches they want are soft and very tough. It’s not something you can easily pull.
What happens here is a Stork grabs bold of a branch and basically flaps around twisting and turning mid air. Keeping a grip with their toes doesn’t work.
Its a circus watching these huge birds flopping around up there.
And I think that’s an oak they are trimming, right? They had to pick the toughest wood…
Yep, tall Live Oaks. There are so many birds stripping the small branches though I think it will be a big problem. This rookery is too big, thousands of birds, and likely will shrink in a year or so. Not sustainable.
