There is nothing in these shots for perspective unfortunately. The bush and creature were hanging out over the swamp. Neither of us even considered wading through a swamp for a caterpillar photo.
I compared impressions with Ellen, and I will go with her estimate of about four to five inches long. He was downright fat too.
A very interesting pattern across the entire body.
There are caterpillars down here that sting and burn when touched. Not that I considered grabbing him, but I keep things like that in mind when I come across new bugs, snakes, slimy things.
We shall call him ‘swamp thing’ for future reference.
