This was once part of the old Santee canal. a 22 mile long canal connecting the Santee  River to the Congaree River and the city of Columbia (now the state capital).

It was closed after the end of the US Civil War, around 1865.

Of course this was the coldest day this fall. The sun did make a guest appearance though.
