I almost lost this photograph in the black hole of forgotten images. I like the details on this one, it would have been too bad if it was lost.
People who don’t see them often, or at all, usually think of them as smaller birds. That’s not true at all. An adult will have a wing span of around 36 inches. Also they stand more than 2 1/2 feet tall. Not giants but a couple walking close by will get your attention.

This Ibis was flying around a salt marsh and settled into a tree, mostly hidden. Obviously not a perfect hiding spot since I grabbed this walking by.
Amazing that it looks so effortless for them to perch on such apparently thin branches and not buoy up and down.
I know, and the feet of wading birds is certainly not good for this.
